Guest exhibitors 2006

2nd December - 31st December 2006
William Hudson

I have been a farmer all my life. I am passionate about the landscape and the culture of the countryside and farming. I have taken pictures for as long as I can remember but only recently have I called myself a photographer.

I am half way through an MA in Photographic Studies at Norwich School of Art And Design. My eyes have been opened and brain confused by Paul Grace and his friends. I would thoroughly recommend it. I usually photograph landscapes so people are a new challenge. I hope you enjoy my efforts.

Kay Lucas was born and brought up in Ipswich. After school she went to Goldsmiths' College where she did a teacher training course specialising in art and design.

Helen Williams & Mark Hickson
Defenceless

Helen Williams and Mark Hickson are photographers based in Norwich, UK. They work independently, as collaborating partners and with other artists.

Helen and Mark are also partners in PriorITas, an independent ICT advisory service to the education community specialising in the use of digital technologies to foster creativity.

Defenceless is a response to coastal erosion in Norfolk. The images document the loss of Happisburgh, a village on the north coast where the sea defences are no longer being maintained. Happisburgh is even now in the process of being taken by the sea.

Though the images in Defenceless are a form of documentary, they embrace an aesthetic dimension and, unlike straight reportage, encourage viewers to construct their own meanings on themes such as the passage of time, location, brokenness and loss.

Sara Ross.
In my current and previous work I have been transforming everyday objects into thought-provoking, witty images containing an underlying spirituality.

Superficially appearing simplistic there is a deeper level of comprehension which impinges on the viewer's subconscious, thus precipitating a change on a subtle level.
