Albert Robb

I do not like to pigeon-hole myself within photography. My work includes portraits, landscapes, flora, fauna and still-life. I am guided by the effects of light, texture and shapes. I am not restricted by limiting rules that are followed by some photographic institutions and societies. If a photograph feels right and creates an emotion then, in my view, it is a successful piece of work.

As an artist, I am used to creating images with brushes, pastels, charcoals, etc. I have gradually become a convert to digital photography, and I now believe that this is the way forward. The freedom and scope for creativity it offers are incredible (and it is quicker and less messy than using the traditional art materials!). Working mostly with a digital camera (although I do still produce some images using 35 mm film), I aim to look beyond the obvious and endeavour to create images that are simple, unique, and ‘a bit different’. I am constantly on the lookout to “catch the moment”.

I find photography a fulfilling experience. It is gratifying to know you have created something permanent and not transitory.
